I heart New York

So as I promised pictures of what I bought in NYC.
The clothes: Abercrombie & Fitch hoody, American Eagle Outfitters T-shirt, Victoria's Secret underwear, I heart NY pyjama bottoms. I also bought an I heart NY t-shirt to turn into a dress which I forgot to photograph.
I'm actually a big postcard collector. Back at home I have loads of vintage Paris postcards on my walls. So I ended up buying quite a few postcards as you will see.
I also bought a few books whilst out in America, because I love the young adults fiction out there for girls. So I bought a couple of them back.
The majority of those sweets aren't even for me! Which is slightly depressing. The Hersheys are a gift for my parents, the peanut butter M&Ms are for my sister, the Reese's are for Nutter and the Skittles are for my friend back at home. I'm seriously a nice person when it comes to buying gifts!

For this current project I have to do a 24 hours in the life of me as my inspiration. And obviously I chose to do it whilst I was in New York. And since the shop I have chosen to do my project on is slightly vintage inspired I've edited my photographs to be polaroids. If only I did have a proper polaroid camera, that would make my day!
Here's a few of what I've chosen:

"do you like your butter muffined?"

Well I'm back from the Big Apple!
So very tired after an overnight flight and a long day of not sleeping. I think I've found the key to not getting jetlag. Just don't sleep. It's worked so far!
I mean I had a slight nap earlier, when Gingey and I were watching a film and we fell asleep, but I kept jolting awake because I was cold... Gingey had stolen most of the blanket. Tsssk.

Believe it or not we got EVERYTHING and more done from our list.
We didn't go to a Broadway show, but we went to a Basketball game instead. Where Michelle Williams from Destiny's Child was there! She looks gorgeous with short hair btw. &I bought a foam finger! Go Knicks!
We got a photograph with a lush policeman. We went up the Empire State Building at night. We visited Bloomingdales, Saks, Victoria's Secret, Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle Outfitters, Century 21, Borders, American Girl Place, and many others.
We had a cupcake like in Sex and the City, from Magnolia's Bakery (they make THE best cupcakes ever).
We went to the Fashion and Textile Museum, as well as to the MoMa to see the Tim Burton exhibition. That was absolutely amazing! So worth the money! To see his drawings in real life. Oh wow. I was blown away. I've always loved Tim Burton, his drawings are just mindblowingly good.
We had a carriage ride round Central Park, and part of the lake was frozen!
Yesterday morning it snowed!
It was the best trip I have been on in a long time.

And last but not least...
We got put on a billboard in Times Square:

Thank you American Eagle Outfitters!

I'll post a picture of the things I bought hopefully tomorrow!

If you haven't been to New York. Do.
I love the Americans.

"i don't want to be your facial hair!"

Okay so I hate the internet. It closed down last night after I'd typed this long blog and just deleted it. Useless!

So anyway I got "fraped", as my flatmate (Nutter) would say, the other day. She decided it would be really funny to post silly things on anything that was signed in on my mac, thus the blog post and my facebook saying vile things.

Gingey drove Nutter and I shopping yesterday. I wanted to get a few things for New York, such as small bottles of shampoo and conditioner... new knee high socks, as it's meant to snow in NY today... some of those sheer tights with the heart pattern on... maybe a new dress... but I couldn't find a thing. Except the shampoo and conditioner. So when I got back I went online, and ordered a top from the All Saints' sale. Not that it will come in time for New York, but it made me feel better :).

I handed in my project yesterday. Such a relief. I'd spent the past week working solidly on it. We've got our new brief on Monday, so I was working on that last night because I am so determined not to be behind on this project. We've got to design a collection for a niche brand, and I've decided what shop I'm doing already so I was doing research on them last night. I'm rather excited.

Well anyway it is... Three days till NYC!

Excited!

one week!

One week until New York!

And we haven't organised a thing!

I just went on to asos to buy a few things from the sale for New York. Wanted some new pyjamas. And the Artisans for Asos Bunny tee that said Oui Oui on it. But then adding all the things up I wanted I then thought no. No. I'm going to save the money to spend IN New York. I can buy pyjamas there or something. Abercrombie and Fitch... plan.

I feel like I should be packing. But I have a hand-in before then. So I can't waste time packing. Instead I can waste time blogging... And watching Friends. Because you know. It's nice to know I have my priorities right...
Did anyone ever get that lecture from their parents? "You don't have your priorities right! School work should come before everything else. And all you do it go out all the time. You never work..." Blah blah blah. What they didn't know was that I spent all day at college working my ass off. I'd do extra work during lunch and stuff. Because you know, I'm cool like that. Clearly.

Well anyway. So this is my form of break for today. I have worked all day. And felt like I've got nowhere. Designing for Gap is hard. Well menswear. It's enjoyable. But when you're braindead and beat, you feel like you can't do much more.
I've just found out I haven't got to be in uni until 12 tomorrow, so that means I can stay up later to do work.
Oh yeah the other night when I was working at half 1? I stayed up till 4am working. Then got up at 9am the next day to carry on working. That didn't work out though. I got distracted by my best friend. Oh well.

How beautiful is Christopher Drew?
Beautiful.

1:28am

Gingey has left the building.
I have spent a lovely day with the Gingey, we went to Maidstone, got completely lost trying to find a parking that wasn't full, shopped, bought some more fabric, bought new boots, had a lunch at pizza hut, came back to halls, drew a tattoo on Gingey, he cooked dinner, watched Eastenders, Gingey did a photoshoot, and then watched The Proposal.
I am now at this hour about to start doing some work.
Hardcore.

My flatmate, Gingey and I made cookies last night, they were cookies of epic creations. They had both white chocolate and milk chocolate in them. We had a fair few left last night. But I went into the kitchen just now to energise myself to have a couple and she's eaten all the good ones! All that's left is the burnt ones. So of course I ate a burnt one. Eurgh.

To Do List here I come...

Goodnight all xo

in our house made of paper your words all over me.

Boys.

What a confusing species?

Honestly why do we spend so many hours obsessing over them?
Even boys obsess over each other.
Even the same sex doesn't understand each other.
Why do we bother?

I will never forget the day my friend, who we shall call Bunny (because she's as cute), got rather drunk and had a bad experience with a not very nice guy and chose to shout out on the bus "I HATE MEN" and rant about it for a while. Bunny doesn't often talk about the male species, so that night is never forgotten. It's always brought up whenever we're cursing the opposite sex.

You know why should we obsess over a person so much? Why does our brain do this to us?
When I came to uni I was just getting over someone, and it's taken a while. And then for the first couple of months of uni I felt wrong because I hadn't found anyone I'd liked as much. But it meant I had other things to think about. My friends. My life. My work. University. etc. Now though... Now all I can think about is what he last text me, what he last did, what he last said, why he did that, why he said it... Oh why?!
Typing this out and thinking about it makes me realise I kind of seem to go for the same type of guy. I mean I've always gone for the guys with the cute faces, scrawny, some form of skater shoes, floppish hair... but recently... recently... my taste has gone downhill. I mean I'm not downgrading. I'm going for the naughty boys. The boys that you know about their previous histories with girls. The ones that go on about being reformed and not cheating and being a perfect gentleman. And you see the changes but at the same time you still see the flaws residing in them yet you overlook them. Because you're blinded by this liking of them.
It's like with friends and family. You never see their flaws until someone new points them out, and then you notice them. But with this you don't take note until something bad happens.

Like recently... I went out with EJ. And he disappeared. It's not like I expected him to be there all night, but you know... you hope. And then you get a message the next day and you're sitting there like what?!? This is a sudden turn of events. And it's now all topsy turvy. Why do you feel the need to explain to me what happened? To make me jealous? Or just so I know you're a little bit sorry?

Also... is it just me or when men big themselves up to you does it just scare you a little bit? It makes me take a step back and think oh dear. I'm not good enough for this... Why am I trying? He's obviously way ahead of me. And I'm way behind. It would just be embarrassing.

But YET I'm still fussing over him!!!!!
Why????

Oh men.

Well this song makes me feel good about it.

winter wonderland

It's still completely snowy outside. I'm back at university now though. I should be doing work but the pre-fall collections were much more interesting!

Chanel 2010

My favourites:

These boots are gorgeeeeouuussss.
Not for the faint hearted mind you.
I love love love the shine of the red. And the contrast of the red with the black. Such a bold statement.
And the black pair with the stripe down the front. They just make me think of long never ending roads into the sunset.
I don't know why but I absolutely love them!
Also loved the Mongolian tapestry boots, which made me think of knitted patterns and made me want to run out in the snow in them. (Although obviously not made for that purpose, I'd probably end up on the floor.)

His and Hers coats?
I love them.
The red detailing on the black coats. And the slight military hint to them really shows where the shops are getting their ideas from.
Perfect for Valentine's Day! &In this weather too!

The fur around the neck and on the cuffs, with the black collar, and the zips on the pocket.
Its just really different.
Totally loving the black and red contrast.
I want this coat. Even if it is menswear.
Again the military feel.

The rest of the collection is very oriental, very influenced by the runway's place of honour, Shanghai. But it has still got Karl Lagerfeld's edge to it with the leather trousers and the original Chanel suit style dresses.

I like, I like.

Christmas presents

Gingey and I on skype.
I just spent about twenty minutes watching his facial expressions to Kill It, Cook It, Eat It. This was very amusing!

Anyone had any bad Christmas presents?
Mine this year was condoms and a thong.
From a friend who knows better.

One of my best christmas presents on the other hand was a new pair of Ugg boots.
I'm not the kind of person who wears Ugg boots because everyone else wears them. I tried on my friends Mum's one day because I had no shoes and they were just the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever worn. I practically live in them. I've had one pair for three years now, I haven't walked them over the side like most people because I walk in mine properly. I have though worn them through at the back so that there is no wool left inside. So I was due for a new pair.

I'm going back to uni in two days. I'm looking forward to it as I get to see Gingey :) I haven't seen my dear Gingey in four weeks! This is the longest we have spent apart! It's been very hard! I get to see Irish aswell :)
But I'm also not looking forward to it as some of my friends from home I'm going to really miss. It's been like old times the past couple of days and I'm going to miss it.

Well this is for Gingey, ly!

2010

Happy New Year!
I know the above picture isn't very New Year related, but she's part of what I did on new years. I rang it in playing guitar hero, twister, cluedo and mario kart, whilst drinking white wine and eating girl's favourite food - chocolate with two good friends. It couldn't have been better I don't think!

So as for my New Year's Resolutions (I didn't actually have any last year as I know I never keep them, but this year I'm older and a little wiser and more determined to keep them):
* Write in my diary more often. These memories I need to keep forever.
* Truly sort out who my friends are. Who's worth keeping and who really isn't worth the effort.
* Eat more healthily.
* Work so hard till I actually can't work anymore. No more messing around.

I could probably think of many more, but I know too many would actually just never get done!

I hope everyone had a good new year celebration, I know I did!

More snow!
Thank you!
